Who are we?
We are ordinary men in the local community that have accepted the challenge Jesus gave to those that follow him. We have a desire to fulfill the great commission in the bible. Many churches use the text out of Matthew to lay as their foundation for fulfilling the great commission.
Mathew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
We believe that this charge is enough to meet the requirements to see those that are lost, saved.
However, there is a second "Great Commission" that most churches will not touch or even discuss within their own church walls. This version of the commission was very radical when it was spoken by Jesus, in these last days it is even more radical. It goes like this...
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe;
In my name shall they
cast out devils;
they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents;
and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
The whole concept, practice and perspective is way beyond mere words, theology, men's doctrines and intellect. This version is a tour de force that wrecks the gates of hell and forces our enemies to release their captives. It requires someone willing to stand in the gap, it requires someone that is not shy nor ashamed of the gospel of the kingdom.
It requires men that are willing to stand to be mocked, scorned and shunned that the gospel of Jesus can be shared and displayed in brute power so that the lost and hurting can walk free of their prisons.
It is done through the name of Jesus Christ and it is done in a heart of love and compassion, not so we can be admired and praised. But that our Father can be glorified and his kingdom established over Gadsden, Alabama and the areas around it.
Paul understood this as well. This is how Paul explains this.
1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
So,... What do you base your faith upon? The teachings, doctrines and theology of men... Or do you base it upon the visible, undeniable demonstration of the power and might of the Holy Spirit openly displayed and used in Jesus name?
The ministry is based out of the Hokes Bluff Community.
We are active in our local church, it is where we are spiritually fed and it is where we are strengthened and encouraged to share Christ with those around us. The ministry is born out of a love for others and a heart felt compassion to see the lost saved, the broken healed, and those that are hurting restored.
The ministry is also born out of thirty years of experience of laying of hands and seeing people healed and set free from the grasp of our enemy. We are active and minister in an area hospital, we teach at a local bible study that meets on Saturday evenings. The ministries we are engaging in are in their infant stages. However, we are very experienced in serving Christ in a number of ways though our personal relationship with Jesus. This is first and foremost.
We not only serve our local community, we also want to network with other churches and Christians that want to fulfill the Great Commission, we want to help train up believers in a unique ministry one of radical, visible power rather than a gospel that is strictly word only.
Read the gospel accounts of the ministry of Jesus and the
disciples under him, it is very rare that you see the preaching of the gospel
break this pattern:
1. The gospel was shared, taught, preached, testified of orally. It was common to see the crowds gather to hear the Word of God taught and preached, he spoke with numerous people one on one teaching and expounding the Kingdom and its principals.
2. Very very rarely do you see the gospel preached without an open, visible display of power. If you follow the format of the bible this is how Jesus established the Kingdom. This is the identical format that he taught his disciples and expected them to do the identical same things.
Later in the book of Acts you still see this format followed to the letter.
The church was not founded upon political organizations, upon music ministries, upon children's church, upon men's and women's fellowship meetings. They have their places in the body and do good, we agree on this, to a point.
The Church was founded upon the person of Jesus Christ and the gospel of the Kingdom displayed in visible open power. This is the foundational truth of the Word of God. This is what the ministry seeks to re-establish.
1. Active in communities AWAY from the pews and air conditioning and sound systems of a building called a "Church."
The men, women and children in a community of like minded believers are the church themselves.
2. Christ and him lifted up and given his proper place.
3. We want to use the ministry as a springboard for other believers to come join us either in our ministry, or in some type of ministries of their own to reach the lost.
4. We want to see the lost saved, the sick healed those that are bound set free in the name of Jesus.
5. It does not take much to see we are in the final minutes of this age, Jesus is about to return. For far too long the church has been stealing members from other churches and calling this evangelism.
Enough is enough, we are intentionally stepping outside our churches to reach those that most churches will step over and ignore, those they would shun and rather not have them sitting next to them during service.
Jesus died for them in the same manner that he did for you.
He suffered the same amount of pain and shed the same amount of blood for them, just as he did for you.
He died with the intent of seeing them saved, healed and restored to a relationship with his father, in the same manner he did with you.
His message of salvation and hope extends to them, just as it does to you.
The difference is, you know his mercy and his love... They don't.
This is why we are here, to reach those that go ignored, to heal those that hurt, to restore those that have lost their ways.
His command is simple...
His command is simple... PREACH AND TESTIFY OF ME
His command is simple... HEAL THE SICK, BIND UP THEIR WOUNDS AND THEIR HURTING
His command is simple... BREAK THEIR BONDAGES, SET THE CAPTIVES FREE, IN MY NAME
His command is simple... LOVE THEM, JUST AS I HAVE LOVED YOU
IF YOU ARE WILLING TO DO THIS, I AM WILLING TO DO THE REST
I JUST NEED YOU TO GO...
This is the heart of the ministry, we do not ask for donations or love offerings/gifts. We will accept small gifts, all gifts will be used entirely for the purpose of ministry. It will be used to purchase tracts to give out, material for prayer cloths, anointing oil, enough gas to get to our ministry sites and nothing more.
None of this goes into anyone's pockets. We adhere to the teachings of Jesus as close as we are able.
Matthew 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
The gifts of the Spirit, healing, casting out devils an the like is not to be sold or used to make a profit with. The word is clear on this as well.
2 Peter 2:3 And through covetousness (greed) shall they with feigned words (forged words - lies) make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
This ministry was paid for out of our own pockets, and we will continue to do so with or without financial assistance from anyone. It is simple, we want the gospel shared, the hurting healed and the broken reconciled to the father. We do so at no required expense to those we minister to.
Unlike many ministries, outreaches, church related events. Christ Over Gadsden will not ask you to attend our church. We do not do this to see our numbers grow from this ministry. We encourage people to attend a bible based church near where they live. And to become active in that church. This is done out of love, not to take advantage of others so we can benefit from them or the ministry.
Love is the entire basis of this ministry. We have nothing to sell, we have noting to require of you. Our motivation is the love of Jesus and sharing him with those around us. And nothing more.
